Modernising Surgical Facilities at Northern General Hospital
High-performing operating theatres depend on carefully controlled environments, modern infrastructure and reliable building services. Northern General Hospital appointed Jarvale to undertake refurbishment and fit-out works within the Firth Operating Theatres, enhancing multiple surgical spaces while supporting ongoing hospital operations.
The scheme included improvements to Theatres 12, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 together with the replacement of associated air handling systems, helping create modern theatre environments that support both clinical teams and patient care.

Operating Theatre Upgrades & Building Services Improvements
The project focused on improving key surgical facilities and associated environmental control systems within the hospital estate. All works were delivered in accordance with the Workplace (Health, Safety & Welfare) Regulations 1992 and relevant healthcare construction standards.

The refurbishment programme required construction activities to be undertaken while maintaining secure access arrangements throughout the hospital environment.
Robust visitor management procedures were introduced to ensure all personnel movements were monitored and recorded, supporting site security and operational safety requirements. At the same time, public access routes and hospital operations were maintained throughout the project.
Through careful coordination and communication, Jarvale successfully delivered the theatre improvements while maintaining compliance, safety and programme control.
