Community Construction Project

Highfield Adventures Sharrow Community Forum

Project Overview

Highfield Adventures Community Hub for Sharrow Community Forum

Jarvale delivered the design and build of the Highfield Adventures community hub for Sharrow Community Forum, creating a modern facility designed to support young people, families and local community organisations in Sheffield.

The project involved demolishing the existing structure before delivering a new purpose-built community building known as Adventures. Since opening in July 2025, the facility has become an important neighbourhood resource, supporting access to youth services, recreation, creative activities, community support and inclusive spaces for local people.

A Word from Sharrow Community Forum

“One of the best parts of the project for me was to work alongside Jarvale Construction. Fairly early on, we switched to a design and build contract in order to bring the scheme in on budget. They were amazing about continuing to allow us to have creative input and generally make decisions about all sorts of stuff that help to make the building what it is. From floor coverings to windows, hand dryers to paving, they kept us involved. I can’t thank them enough.”

Rachel Cosens, Sharrow Community Forum

The project was supported through the government’s Youth Investment Fund, helping create modern facilities that improve opportunities and outcomes for young people.

Project Delivery

Collaborative Design & Build Construction

The project was delivered through a collaborative design and build approach, allowing Jarvale and Sharrow Community Forum to work closely together throughout the process.

This approach helped the team identify value engineering opportunities, keep the scheme aligned with budget expectations and preserve creative input from the client and community.

Highfield Adventures reflects Jarvale’s wider experience delivering community, education, healthcare, commercial and specialist construction projects where collaboration, communication and long-term value are essential.

Community Impact

Supporting Young People & Local Families

Sharrow Community Forum wanted Highfield Adventures to provide a safe, welcoming space where young people and local families could access activities, support services and community opportunities.

Supported through the government’s Youth Investment Fund, the project created a modern community hub designed to improve opportunities for young people while supporting wider community engagement.

Today, the facility provides flexible spaces for learning, recreation, development and community support, helping deliver long-term social value for the local area.
