Value: £1.2 million

Special Steel Group recently acquired a new site in Sheffield to extend the facilities and storage capacity of one of their companies, Sheffield Quality Forge. The land, which used to be the home to a small concrete mini mix company is located next to the existing forge on Birch Road, Attercliffe.

The works were carried out in two phases and involved the erection of two brickwork and steel clad portal frame structures on 75 220mm diameter steel sleeved concrete piles driven to a depth of 6 metres. The units with a combined floor area of two thousand square metres were designed to accommodate new inspection areas and house steel stock on a purpose built racking system. A new welfare block was constructed as part of the first phase project providing modern facilities for the shop floor workers consisting of a wet room, drying room, toilets and canteen.
